Kenalog Injection
Hay-fever Treatment

The Kenalog  Jab

The Kenalog injection is a steroid treatment that alleviates the symptoms of hay fever for individuals with extreme allergies to pollen. If you’ve used nasal sprays, antihistamines or tablets to reduce your allergies in the past and found them unsuccessful, this injection may be recommended to you.

With just one dose of Kenalog, hay fever sufferers should experience up to three whole months of reduced symptoms and alleviation from the seasonal issues associated with this allergy.

What is Hay-fever?

Hay fever, or allergic rhinitis, is an allergic reaction to humid or windy conditions in the spring and summer months. During this time, the pollen count in the air is at its highest – interfering with the daily lives of hay fever sufferers.

These allergens can spread indoors, as well as dominate the air outside. Pollen, fur, feathers, dust mites – even dog or cat saliva can trigger an allergic reaction in hay fever sufferers.

Common symptoms of hay fever include:

  • Itchy, watery eyes

  • Sneezing and coughing

  • Some loss in smell

  • Itchy throat, nose, mouth or ears

  • Headaches

  • Lethargy

  • Pain in the temples or forehead

  • Shortness of breath (with asthma)

  • Tightness of the chest (with asthma)

  • Sinus pressure

How can having the Hay-fever Injection help?

Unfortunately, there’s no actual way of avoiding hay fever. So, how do people manage? By reducing their exposure to these allergens, or getting a hay fever jab.

In the majority of hay fever sufferers, the body’s immune system will start to develop antibodies. Why does it do this? Because the immune system thinks it has to, in order to protect you.

Hay fever injections help the body to calm down and reduce this reaction. By using corticosteroids known as Kenalog, hay fever can be better controlled to ease the symptoms of those who are encountering them on a daily basis.

The Kenalog Injection Procedure

Kenalog is an injection that is injected into the buttock (gluteal) muscle. This is known as an Intra- Muscular (IM) injection. The skin surface is thoroughly cleaned with an alcohol swab prior to the injection.

It takes a few seconds and is not a very painful injection as the substance itself is not irritating to the tissue.
