Botox & Fillers - Safety When Receiving Treatment

MPs call on Government to address complete absence of regulation over botox and fillers
The All Party Parliamentary Group on Beauty, Aesthetics and Wellbeing (the APPG) launched a year-long inquiry following the explosion in the popularity and availability of botox and filler treatments. They were concerned that currently anyone can carry out any treatment, with minimal legal restrictions on who can provide them or what qualifications they must have to do so.

The APPG investigated practitioner standards and qualifications, the case for a registration of practitioners or licensing, ethics and mental health considerations, and the serious issues around advertising and social media.

There is much good practice from aesthetic practitioners in the beauty and medic industries, but also cases of poor practice from both. It was not the APPG’s intention to state who should or shouldn’t be allowed to become a practitioner, but ensure all practitioners gain the appropriate training and prove their competence to deliver advanced aesthetic treatments.

Last week the final report into botox, fillers and similar aesthetic non-surgical cosmetic treatments published by The All Party Parliamentary Group on Beauty, Aesthetics and Wellbeing (the APPG), Chaired by Carolyn Harris MP and Judith Cummins MP, is available on the APPG website here.

Established in 2003, Pure Aesthetics is the premier aesthetic clinic for botox injections in Nottingham.

We offer a range of cosmetic anti-wrinkle injections to help reverse the ageing process that leave you looking more youthful and refreshed. Lines and wrinkles botox treatments are only administered by our experienced and fully-qualified practitioners.

Botox is a brand of Botulininum Toxin A and is the UK’s most popular cosmetic treatment for the removal of wrinkles. At Pure Aesthetics in Nottingham, we only use approved, safe and trusted Botox brands. We are also experienced in dermal fillers. We offer a free no obligation consultation with one of our experienced aesthetic nurses at our comfortable Nottingham Botox clinic.

Safe Botox Treatments at Pure Aesthetics Nottingham

The amount of Botulinum Toxin A that is used is very safe as it is administered in very small doses into muscles and sweat glands and does not reach any other part of the body. Using a few tiny needle injections, it usually takes around 15 minutes and is largely pain-free.

There is no anaesthetic required as the toxin weakens the muscles that are responsible for the wrinkles and reverses the lines that appear when you smile, frown or animate your face. There are some wrinkles, such as static ones, that can be improved with Botox® but they may, otherwise, be better treated with dermal fillers – another treatment we offer here at Pure Aesthetics.

Botox is very effective and has a fantastic safety record. It has been used successfully in adults and children for a wide range of medical conditions for more than two decades but Botox is now much more commonly used cosmetically to treat lines and wrinkles.

Who can have Botox?

Women and men can both benefit from anti-wrinkle Botox® injections. You have to be over the age of 18 to have any of our treatments at our Nottingham Botox® clinic.

Who cannot have Botox?

Anti-wrinkle Botox injections should not be used by women who are pregnant or breast feeding or by people with muscle problems or chronic diseases. Treatment at our Botox clinic is not administered if the injection site is infected or if the patient is allergic to any of the ingredients. Children under the age of 18 cannot be given Botox treatment.
